You perform a google search and you are bombarded with a number of ‘plastic surgeons’ or ‘cosmetic surgeons’. It can be hard to tell who is actually a ‘board-certified plastic surgeon’ and safe to perform your surgery. The first thing to do is to arrange a consultation to meet with one or more plastic surgeons. Check out their reviews, but, bear in mind, that reviews on big hospital websites are often filtered and ‘cleaned up’ and may not reflect the true experience with that plastic surgeon. Corporate hospital marketing teams are notorious for removing any negative reviews to promote their plastic surgeons in a better light. Better still is to ask friends and family members for recommendations for plastic surgeons who have provided the best care in the surgery similar to what you are seeking.

Dr. Li is an experienced board certified surgeon who specializes in revision surgeries; fixing patients who have had an undesirable outcome with other plastic surgeons. Dr. Li and her team have a passion for providing the best possible clinical experience for all her patients. Her focus on a patient’s ‘surgical journey’ led Dr. Li to start her own YouTube educational channel in 2023. Her hope was to ‘empower patients through education’, providing shorts and long form video content on topics including, breast reconstruction techniques like ‘esthetic flat closure’ or ‘how to choose a plastic surgeon’. This is something she is planning to grow and continue to make more educational videos, covering a wider range of topics. Dr. Li has continued to teach patients through her outreach involvement in several breast cancer charities.
