The Goldilocks procedure is a single-stage breast reconstruction that uses your own remaining breast skin after a skin-sparing mastectomy to create a small breast mound, without implants or a separate tissue flap.
Candidates need to be suitable for a skin-sparing mastectomy and generally have larger, more pendulous breasts, which leave enough tissue to shape a mound. Dr. Li assesses candidacy during your consultation.
Recovery after a Goldilocks procedure is often faster than traditional reconstruction, around two to four weeks compared with six to eight weeks for flap surgery, because no implant or distant flap is used.
